Mi chiamo Stefano Glassier, ho quarantaquattro anni, sono compagno di Chiara e papà di Benoît. Diplomato in pedagogia, sono una Guida Alpina iscritta all’U.V.G.A.M. (Unione Valdostana Guide Alta Montagna) e faccio parte della prestigiosa Società Guide Alpine Courmayeur. Sono osservatore nivologico 2a AINEVA e pisteurs secouristes, abilitato al primo soccorso e BLSD.

Sono nato e cresciuto in Valle d’Aosta e frequento da sempre la montagna. Ogni stagione ha la sua disciplina e a me piacciono tutte, punto.

Sono un’edonista e di bellezza in montagna ce n’è proprio tanta e per tutti, qualche volta è  proporzionale  alla fatica che sei disposto a fare, altre volte la trovi dietro l’angolo…ma non sei felice uguale.

C’è un libro a cui sono molto legato e su cui ho fatto i più bei sogni, “La montagna è il mio mondo”, alpinismo d’altri tempi e non è di certo andato perduto. Questo è solo un piccolo estratto:

My name is Stefano Glassier, I am fourty-two years old and I am Chiara’s partner and dad of Benoît. Graduate in pedagogy, I am a Mountain Guide. I belong to the U.V.G.A.M. (Aosta Valley Union of High Mountain Guides) and I am part of the prestigious Courmayeur Mountain Guides (Società Guide Courmayeur). I hold a 2a AINEVA qualification as nivological observer and I am also a pisteur-secouriste. I am a fully trained first aid assistant, as well as BLSD.

Born and bred in the Aosta Valley, the mountains have been my playground ever since I can remember. Round here, you are spoilt for choice and boredom does not exist: you may think it’s done on purpose, but every season offers its own discipline and I love them all. It’s as simple as that.

I’m a hedonist by nature and cherish the beauty you find in the mountains, which is copious, to say the least. At times, beauty reveals itself after a strenuous effort, other times it’s a stone’s throw from you, but if that’s the case, happiness tastes different.

There is a book [by Rébuffat] I am really fond of, which inspired my wildest dreams. It’s called “The mountain is my world”, and it’s pure mountaineering of yesteryear, still to be found these days. I love this quotation:
